Law enforcement officers, which pepper spray/foam do you recommend for loved ones?
I was reading that Mace Triple Action (OC and CN tear gas) works well because you don't need to aim in the eyes, and that Fox Labs and Sabre Red DPS are hotter than any of the Mace pepper sprays. These seem to be recommended to law enforcement officials by other officers who have been sprayed in training. But which would you recommend to your wives/daughters? I'm also considering Mace pepper foam, but I don't like the idea of them wiping it off and throwing it back at me, or the possibility of me missing their eyes. Of these, which would be recommended for ease of use and most immediate reaction? I'm interested in the opinions of people who have used these personally or had these used on them.
Distance is your best defense. I recommend any that fire a narrow stream, as opposed to some that fire a cone shape. The narrow stream is more effective at a greater distance, giving you a better chance at escape. If an attacker is highly motivated, or under the influence of drugs, the spray may not protect you once they get their hands on you.
A small percentage of people are immune to pepper, so the OC/CN combination has a greater chance of having the desired affect. Don't get caught up in strength, they are all effective.
Some foams have colored dye that can be effective in identifying the suspect, however the foam won't shoot as far. I think it is most important to stop the attack than it is to identify the attacker.
