For someone who is in Law Enforcement, which is the best fighting style complimentary to study?
top of the base defense techniques staff what would be the best fighting style in college to train for a police officer? Given that you are in a somewhat uniform restrictive, most likely based on the force on the agility and upper body, I would think.
It is best Judo. You have the spear / takedowns and jointlocks, chokes and has mat *. That and Japanese Ju Jitsu or Wally Jay Small Circle Jujitsu joint locks to stand. I did not say aikido, because the learning curve (from what I've seen that art professionals who come to us) is much slower than the Ju Jitsu or SCJJ. I certainly would not recommend bjj and that focus on going to the ground with his opponent. This is not what to do when the retention of weapons is a top priority. * It has been said to ignore the mat has to self-defense, and still are for that. Mat is only practical for law enforcement because they are professionals responsible for slowing down and stopping people)
