Strong Pink Holster

Being a Woman Makes You an Instant Target

The statistics I've seen lately are astounding against women. Nearly 231,000 rapes are reported each year. A woman is raped nearly every 90 seconds, so just think that as you read this article, some woman somewhere is being raped.

A violent crime occurs every 30 seconds and nearly 80% of women will experience some sort of violent crime against them in their lifetime.  I really cringe when I see these numbers, especially because I too am a woman.

I know if someone attacked me, even if it was just another woman who is bigger than me, I am screwed. I am 5'0, 115 lbs, and though I work out and box regularly, I really don't feel protected if someone tried to do something to me.

Since I know I am not as strong as a man, or a really big girl, I have taken several measures to ensure I am protected from harm. No, I don't carry a gun, and the reason for that is if I had to use it, I don't know that I could pull the trigger, or even worse if I do pull the trigger, now I have to deal with the police and possibly a murder trial to determine if it really was self defense.

That headache is just not worht it, which is why after doing much research I have decided to arm myself with simple and inexpensive non-lethal products.

I carry a pepper spray key chain with me at all times, just in case. However, pepper spray is best used when the assailant is far away and you see them coming toward you. You wouldn't want to spray too close, because obviously you don't want to hit your own face.

I also carry with a cell phone stun gun which I just love because it looks just like a cell phone! and the one I carry is pink, which is one of  my favorite colors. The great thing about this stun gun is that because it is disguised, your attacker won't know what it is until you shock or stun them. Also, since most attackers may come from behind, by the time you need to defend yourself they are already close enough, so you just grab the stun gun and hit stun. Now if you carry a big purse and it is difficult to find this in a time of need, I would suggest using a holster and placing it on your pants, if you are wearing some, if you are walking in an area that is quesetionable and you don't feel safe.

Aside from this, it would be good to read up on other techniques you can use to protect yourself, however I probably wouldn't take some women's self defense class because the stuff they teach you is very hard to execute when you are under the fear and adrenaline rush of an attack.
